My father was in the military, which afforded me an interesting and life-changing perspective growing up. Growing up on base witnessing the unique community and my parents’ dedication to helping those around them, I developed my burning passion to Make Impact in the lives of others. I signed up to be a volunteer and assisted new families with moving needs as they settled onto base. However, it wasn’t until later in my life that I was able to spread this passion beyond my own community, beginning the movement of motivating everyday heroes dedicated to making a real difference around the world.
This is the origin story of how I set out to encourage others to be the change they want to see in the world. As a Changer, I believe Making Impact isn’t limited to big, monetary donations. Instead, we all must focus on making small but impactful gestures in our daily lives.
At first, I found having this personal passion only went so far. While I was an award-winning television and commercial producer and executive in Texas, I received some advice from a cable network executive that completely changed my focus.
This person told me, “Your job is what you trade the days of your life for; therefore, your job has to have significant meaning to you.”
This was my “a-ha” moment! It ignited one of my core values: that I did not have to sacrifice who I am or my passions to have a career. I can develop content that ignites the fire in others to give back and make a meaningful difference.
Now, I am on a mission to change the way we relate and interact with each other, so this world can regain inspiration, empowerment and empathy. Whether this is by doing a simple act of kindness, such as holding the door for someone behind us, or dedicating our lives to helping those in need, we all have a role to play.
One of the most basic questions we ask ourselves is, “What is my purpose in life?” I believe our purpose is to Make Impact. The world can be a dark, scary place sometimes. It is my goal and personal mission to be the light that shines among the shadows, bringing love and acceptance to all. You can make a difference too.
