Organizations Seeking Virtual Volunteers

With technology continuously advancing every day, it comes to no surprise to me that virtual volunteering is becoming very popular, especially as social distancing guidelines continue across the globe. Are you looking for more ways you can Make Positive Impact on your community from the safety of your home? Check out these organizations that are currently seeking virtual volunteers!

1. DoSomething.org – It’s true — our youth is the future of our world, and as they grow, they will become our future leaders, philanthropists, CEOs, professors and beyond. In order for them to truly embrace their potential, it’s up to their elders and role models to guide and empower them to become the best versions of themselves. DoSomething.org is a youth-led movement that empowers young people to enact change in their communities, both online and offline. The digital platform connects young adults with other likeminded Changers regarding causes from homelessness and poverty to the environment and beyond. Browse DoSomething.org with your children or grandchildren to help them find a cause that makes them passionate, then get started with Making Impact.

2. Crisis Text Line – The Crisis Text Line continues to offer free, 24/7 support for those in crisis through active listening, collaborative problem solving and safety planning. This organization utilizes the power of Making Impact through engaging in simple one-on-one conversations with people in need of help and guidance. If you’re at least 18 and can commit to volunteering at least four hours each week, apply to be trained as a Crisis Text Line volunteer for free.

3. Translators Without Borders – For those fluent in more than one language, Translators Without Borders combines language skills with humanitarian aid. Volunteers provide translations (10 million words per year!) to international organizations that focus on crisis relief, health and education. Being able to better communicate with those around us can strengthen the bonds and relationships throughout the community. Through this wonderful nonprofit, volunteers are able to Make Impact by helping to work towards a world where knowledge knows no language barriers.

4. United Nations Volunteers – If you’re looking to take your online volunteering worldwide, this is the place to start. United Nations Volunteers (UNV) connects you with partner organizations working towards a common goal: peace and development across the world. UNV is in need of volunteers with skills like research, writing, art, design and more. There are already over 12,000 volunteers from 187 countries lending their talents to organizations worldwide through UNV, and their volunteer base continues to grow daily. Learn more about how you can change the world by Making Positive Impact through UNV.

I always say, “If you want to feel your best, simply help someone else,” and I stand by this statement every day. Volunteering during a global pandemic can be difficult, but new opportunities are at our fingertips for Making Impact online. Join me in becoming a Changer dedicated to our Movement of Making Impact by pledging to complete one virtual volunteering opportunity over the next week.
